The Alzheimer's unit is located on the second floor of the Care Center. There are 23 beds and it is entry/exit secure for the protection of the residents. This unit is designed with an at-home atmosphere. Residents can spend their days walking around the unit, participating in the daily planned activities, or enjoying the outdoors on the patio overlooking the Big Horn Mountains. Families are encouraged to join their loved ones anytime during the day. Every staff member is thoroughly trained in the care of the person with various types of memory impairments. The staffing of New Horizons includes registered nurses, a social worker, activities staff, a licensed practical nurse, nursing assistants, a medical director, and a dietician. Residents are highly supervised for a safe and secure environment.

Communication with Residents

There are various ways to communicate with residents if you are unable to come visit in person. You may call into the facility and our lovely staff can transfer the call to a cordless phone and provide the call to the resident.

Our activity department has the capability to set up video calls between you and your loved ones through FaceTime or Zoom, during the day. If you wish to have a call after hours, it can be arranged with prior notice.

We have an e-mail address for residents at the New Horizons Care Center. Families and friends are encouraged to send pictures, letters or just short notes via e-mail to our residents. Each e-mail needs to have the resident's name in the subject line. These e-mails are printed every morning (Monday through Friday) and distributed during the daily mail pass. The e-mail address is: activitynbhh@gmail.com. This is a great way for busy families to stay in contact with residents. And the residents enjoy receiving "mail".
